Big Smart Cities Coimbra Award

Francisco Duarte, doctoral student in Transport Systems at the University of Coimbra (UC) won the Big Smart Cities Coimbra, held last Thursday (27) at the Pedro Nunes Institute.

The Student Francisco Duarte competed with the idea PAVNEXT - Pavement Energy Efficient Extractor - and in addition to winning the initial prize of 500 euros, it secured the classification among the 20 finalists to compete in the final of the BIG Smart Cities, which will award a prize of 10 thousand euros , Six months of incubation at Vodafone Power Lab and a trip to meet Ericsson's innovation hub in Europe.

The PAVNEXT system is an improved version of the previous VENEX system and is an alternative to LRV, reducing the number of accidents and their severity.
