NEW RESEARCH PROGRAMME: Spatial Planning for Change (SPLACH)

CITTA coordinated a successful application to the very competitive Joint Activities Programmes (PAC) call under the COMPETE 2020 Program


SPLACH - Spatial Planning for Change - is a 3 year, 1.8 million euro research programme, to be developed by CITTA, DINÂMIA'CET-IUL (University of Lisbon) and GOVCOPP (University of Aveiro). It aims at preparing a body of transformative planning policies, implementation mechanisms, and decision support systems, able to guide Portuguese planning practice towards a transition to a low carbon and social inclusive urban system.
Paulo Pinho, the Director of CITTA, is the Principal Investigator of the Programme.

SPLACH includes the following 11 work packages:
WP 1 - Contemporary spatial dynamics (and governance)
WP 2 - Transition paths to sustainability
WP 3 - Food security and urban sustainability
WP 4 - Urban metabolism (energy, land, food and water)
WP 5 - Sustainable tourism, urban form and regeneration
WP 6 - Planning services of general interest in times of austerity
WP 7 - Enhancing the potential of transformation of public policies
WP 8 - Modelling
WP 9 - Compendium of urban policies
WP 10 - Dissemination
WP 11 - Management
