Dr Asma Mehan is the current Postdoctoral research associate at CITTA (research center for territory, transports, and environment) in Faculty of Engineering (FEUP), University of Porto. She is a general editor at Architectural Histories- the open-access journal of the European Architectural History Network (EAHN) and active member of Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP) and Postsecular Architecture Research Network (PARN). Asma has recently been a researcher in resident at the ZK/U Center for Art and Urbanistics in Berlin.
Before moving to Porto, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Architecture and Design (DAD) and Adjunct Fellow at the Future Urban Legacy Lab (FULL) both affiliated with Politecnico di Torino.
Asma has previously served as Iran’s National Elites Foundation (INEF) Postdoc Fellow at the Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) (Tehran, Iran), Visiting Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Urbanism at EPFL University (Lausanne, Switzerland) and Alfred Deakin Institute (ADI) (Melbourne, Australia).
Asma has a background in Architecture and received a Master degree in Architecture (2013) from the School of Art and Architecture at the Art University of Isfahan (Iran) and PhD (DPhil) (2017) in “Architecture, History, and Project” program from Politecnico di Torino (Italy) in collaboration with Deakin University (Melbourne, Australia). Since 2011, she has developed extensive teaching experience at different universities in Iran and Italy. Her research straddles the disciplines of critical urban studies, spatial planning, political geographies, and architecture.
