On 11 July 2023, Fanny Augis successfully defended her PhD thesis on " Social housing, urban shrinkage and infrastructure: analysis of a social housing approach in two medium-sized shrinking cities in France (Le Creusot and Montluçon)". The thesis was developed in the Doctoral Program in Spatial Planning, and was supervised by Paulo Conceição and co-supervised by António Ferreira and Tetsuji Uemura.

The PhD project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 813803.Re-City ITN, Reviving shrinking cities - Innovative paths and perspectives towards liveability for shrinking cities in Europe.
