Nicolás Santelices Artaza is a PhD candidate in Spatial Planning at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). He is an Architect at the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape of the Central University of Chile. He holds an MSc in Spatial Planning and Urban Project from the Faculty of Architecture (FAUP) and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), as well as a master’s in urban and Territorial Development from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, UPC Barcelona-Tech. In his more than 14 years of research and practice, his experience leading studies for the development of Spatial Planning Instruments at Metropolitan, Inter-Municipal and Local levels in Coastal Areas in Chile stands out. Work developed as part of the Regional Secretary of Valparaíso of the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism of The Government of Chile, Spatial Planning Consultants, Foundations and NGOs. He is currently developing research in the PhD programme at the FEUP together with the Centre for Research in Territory, Transport and Environment (CITTA) focused on the articulation of Spatial Planning with Marine Spatial Planning MSP, through Land-sea interactions.
