Bomfim, Lara

Lara Costa Bomfim holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Bahia (2014) and a Master's degree in Spatial Planning and Urban Project from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (2022). During her undergraduate studies, she received a CAPES-FIPSE scholarship under the DiverCIY Program (2013) and completed an academic exchange at the University of Washington (College of Built Environments) in Seattle, United States. She organized and presented a community meeting in Gretna (Louisiana, USA) to address the needs of the population for a new park in the city. Later, she collaborated on its design. Lara also participated in a public hearing in Tacoma (Washington, USA) and contributed to the formulation of a document on the health impacts that an urban intervention plan could have on the city´s residents. She took classes in the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at UFBA - PPGAU (2018). Lara organized and led the "Workshop on Mental Maps of the City" with CITTA (Research Centre for Territory, Transports and Environment), community members, and representatives of the Porto´s city council to investigate aspects related to the new Integrated Signage and Information Project proposed for the city of Porto, Portugal. She collaborated as a researcher in two projects at CITTA: DinamiCITY - Fostering Dynamic Adaptation of Smart Cities to Cope with Crises and Disruptions and CAOP - Climate Adaptation for Older People Living in Vulnerable Urban Areas. She is currently a PhD student in Spatial Planning with a scholarship funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
