Ruben Fernandes is a Senior Researcher at the CITTA – Research Centre for Territory, Transports and Environment. To date, he has been involved in many projects covering topics relating to spatial planning and development, governance and urban regeneration, spatial-economic impact analysis, transport planning and urban public transport efficiency, sustainable urban mobility, public choice and local government finances. His current work focuses mainly on the topics of urban metabolism and climate change. During the last five years, he has worked as an Assistant Professor in Spatial Planning at the University of Cape Verde (2012-14) and as a planning practitioner at Sinfic – Sistemas de Informação Industrial e Consultoria lda, mpt® - mobilidade e planeamento do território lda and Strategy XXI (2014-16). He got his Master’s degree in Economics (option of urban and regional planning) in 2008 and his Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering (option of spatial and environmental planning) in 2013, both at the University of Porto.
